research, engineering, and design
"While training as an engineer, I was often struck by the lack of consideration for the end user. My passion for sustainable design began in research, where I studied occupants and redesigned building interfaces to enable efficient behaviour and promote sustainability. I was eager to demonstrate the importance of incorporating user feedback and human factors in engineering. Adopting this mission in my academic work, I designed workflows and user interfaces for BMW, Carleton University, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics.
A good designer anticipates the user and incorporates qualitative and quantitative methods to capture feedback and deliver usable products. I believe in a literature-informed, evidence-based approach that supports dynamic, fast-paced development.
Alongside research, engineering, and design, I find passion in the study of art and flavour. My work in hospitality and fine dining solidified my appreciation for attention to detail and productive, effective communication in the workspace, which I carry forward in my professional roles."
